Whether a "fuga di cervelli" (brain drain) from Italy to San Francisco or simply the desire to enhance personal education through a study abroad experience, BAIA's Interns certainly show their determination to actively combine their inborn cultural values and beliefs with the newly adopted American ones. But let's take a closer glance at their profiles and find out their interests in BAIA and its mission.
Diana Milanesi is originally from Milan and recently graduated at UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. In Italy, she received her laurea in Law from Universita' Bocconi in 2009. Her study abroad experience includes Duke University School of Law as well the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, where she was awarded a certificate in Accounting and Finance in 2010. From 2009 to 2011 she worked as a junior associate within the banking and finance department at an international leading law firm in Milan. She represented international and Italian companies, private equity funds and financial institutions in the context of various banking and M&A transactions. When asked to give us her prospective regarding her internship opportunity at BAIA, Diana referred to it as a terrific experience for her profile. She describes herself as a vital, interested and active person and through BAIA internship program she has been offered the unique opportunity to actively contribute her energy and enthusiasm to the vibrant Bay Area community. She concludes by affirming that being a people-oriented and sociable person, she greatly enjoys the precious opportunity that BAIA offers to all its trainees of being part of a well-established and open community, as well as of creating everlasting and reliable friends and professional relationships.
The second trainee, Simona Cervasio, also graduated in Law from the Universita' degli Studi Federico II in Naples in 2009. After receiving her degree, she practiced civil litigation, commercial and employment law for two years in Naples. She also pursued an internship at an immigration legal office in San Francisco, an experience that gave her the opportunity to shift her focus on International Law and to start operating within the business sphere in the wonderful city of San Francisco. To further develop her knowledge in this field, she enrolled in the International Law and Human Rights Master program at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, which she recently completed. She is enthusiastic about her opportunity to join BAIA and she looks forward to contributing to its core goals of promoting, developing and expanding the business network between Italy and the US. BAIA offers numerous events and occasions to meet professionals and entrepreneurs, a crucial element for the exchange of practices and strategies to achieve new business aims. According to Simona, BAIA organization perfectly matches her skills, personality and energy in engaging new projects. She believes that BAIA will help her use the knowledge and multifaceted experience acquired for developing innovative ideas and projects.
Both Diana and Simona show great enthusiasm for their new BAIA experience and they value the reciprocal exchange between cultures and the collaboration among business peers.
