For many recent graduates, an internship can be an extraordinary opportunity. Real-world exposure, new contacts, new skills, job apprenticeship. Add some international experience to the mix, and you get an exciting picture. That’s what BAIA aims to offer.
Over the last few years, we have frequently received internships requests from young graduates; we are very pleased to launch a formal program intended to accommodate their ambitious plans.
We are currently looking for two highly motivated trainee volunteer interns – read the internship description to find out all the details.
Why is BAIA embarking on this initiative? You guessed it: we do need dedicated resources. We need their help for a few important projects we want to launch. Projects that will benefit the large and growing Italian professional community in the Bay Area, as well as the business community straddling Italy and the US. But, there’s more than that: we need the energy and enthusiasm that interns typically bring; we need their ideas and ingenuity. And, we need to cultivate the future leaders of our organization.
What’s in it for them? It’s hard to top the allure of living and working in San Francisco for a few months - an enticing proposition in and of itself. But lifestyle actually won’t be the main draw: the interns will work on core BAIA activities like web projects, event management, membership programs - and they will have a chance to propose and execute a project of their choosing. Relevant experience, contacts, referrals, introductions – that’s what interns want, and that’s what BAIA is committed to providing.
If we look back at our own lives, chances are that most of us have had the benefit of a trainee internship experience at some point in our lives. Do you remember when you were in your 20es and desperately looking for an opportunity abroad, even if unpaid? My own internship was in Dusseldorf, at an Italian fashion retailer. I will be forever grateful to the Italian businesswoman at the helm of that retail chain who hired me as her special assistant for three months, giving me the chance to taste corporate life before taking the plunge.
Therefore, we appeal to all our friends in the BAIA community to refer qualified candidates and help us make this program a success.
