C’era Una Volta (Once Upon a Time) is a nice Italian Restaurant located on a small hidden square on the side of Park Avenue on Alameda Island. The chef of the restaurant, and one of the owners, is Rudy Duran, an authentic Italian chef from Livorno on the Tuscany coast.
Rudy is very passionate about his job: ask Rudy about the restaurant and he will never talk about business, only about good food, great ingredients and the promotion of the Italian gastronomic tradition.
Rudy Restaurant was the perfect context for yesterday “Wine Tasting Extravaganza”, a Sunday afternoon event organized by BAIA.
Rudy and his compagna Cheryl hosted the event and provided a delicious pasta while Fabrizio Tettamanzi of Vino Veritas and Richard Mickaels of The Henry Wine Group were explaining and offering important Italian wines to all the guests.
Fabrizio, who recently started Vino Veritas to distribute Italian Wines to California restaurants, believes that when people have the opportunity to approach authentic Italian food and wine, they have only one option: fall in love for them!
Richard was proposing a couple of northern Italian wines from the large selection of The Henry Wine Group and WineBow: a Valpolicella and a Pinot Grigio from the Alto Adige region.
In a sort of competition to attract and delight the palate of the guests, John Blount of Italian Harvest, was offering a small but incredible selection of Italian oils and balsamic vinegars. John Blount talks about Extra Vergine oil and Balsamic Vinegar as only an Italian can do: with love, passion and incredible competence.
Very soon I’ll go back to visit Rudy and to delight myself with a complete Italian dinner at “C’era Una Volta”. Are you going to do the same?
